Her work focuses on sustainable change, inclusive practices in fostering, and empowering professionals to better support children from diverse backgrounds.
Through BFCA, Rachel continues to champion a future where every child can thrive in a supportive, culturally aware environment.
Grants & Funding Director
is a dynamic leader with over 15 years of experience across the social, cultural, education, and voluntary sectors. A passionate neurodivergent advocate, Jerrel is committed to driving inclusion, dismantling inequalities, and empowering marginalized communities.
At 25, he co-founded Powered by CAN, supporting young people aged 6–25 to thrive and lead. As a foster carer, Jerrel’s lived experience deeply informs his advocacy, ensuring foster families and children are prioritized in policy and funding decisions.
Alongside his role at BFCA, he serves on strategic boards such as Arts Council England’s Place-Based Peer Learning Programme and the Fair Education Alliance Advisory Committee. Jerrel’s leadership continues to shape the future of fostering, education, and community development both nationally and internationally.
Quality Assurance Director
brings over a decade of experience in customer service, operations, and quality assurance, ensuring that organizations maintain high standards of excellence and efficiency. As the Quality Assurance Director at BFCA, she plays a crucial role in overseeing service delivery, monitoring compliance, and implementing best practices to enhance the experiences of foster carers and children.
Shanice is dedicated to continuous improvement and upholding the highest standards within
BFCA’s programs. Her expertise in problem-solving, service evaluation, and stakeholder
engagement enables her to create impactful policies and procedures that enhance the
organization's effectiveness. With a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, Shanice ensures that BFCA’s initiatives remain person-centered, responsive, and aligned with the needs of carers and children.
Advisory Board Member
is an experienced foster carer with over 30 years of service, having cared for more than 30 children. A passionate advocate for fostering, she supports recruitment, mediation, and peer mentoring initiatives to strengthen the fostering community.
Beyond fostering, Angela co-founded Aston Performing Arts Academy, empowering young people through creativity and self-expression. Her dedication to fostering, advocacy, and youth development makes her a vital part of BFCA’s advisory board.
Advisory Board Member
is an experienced social work professional with over a decade of expertise in child protection, fostering, and supporting children in care. As a Qualified Social Worker and Team Manager, he is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children and families.
Alongside his frontline work, Nana lectures at London Metropolitan University, Brunel University, and Anglia Ruskin University, mentoring the next generation of social workers. He is also the founder of the Street Social Work Practice Model, a grassroots approach to bridging the gap between professionals and communities.
Nana co-hosts The Social Worker and The Mentor podcast and has earned multiple accolades, including the BASW Journalism Award in 2024.
Advisory Board Member
is a social entrepreneur and experienced social worker with over 15 years supporting children and young people in care. He is the Founder and Director of Bold Leap, an organization focused on transforming standards in supported accommodation and helping young people transition out of care.
With a BSc in Social Work, Peter has dedicated his career to safeguarding vulnerable children and bridging the gap between policy and practice. He is also a foster carer with Swiis Foster Care England, providing a stable home for children with complex needs.
Beyond the UK, Peter serves as a trustee for Kids Club Kampala, supporting youth empowerment initiatives in Uganda. He is the bestselling author of Social Work & Beyond, sharing real-world insights to support social workers and carers.
