Job Title: Housekeeper – Assisted Living

Location: Maple Ridge Manor Manistee
Department: Environmental Services / Housekeeping
Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor
Employment Type: [Full-Time 30-40 hrs per week

Job Summary

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors in an assisted living community. This role supports resident health, safety, and quality of life by ensuring all living areas meet cleanliness and infection control standards while providing courteous and respectful service to residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize resident apartments, bathrooms, common areas, dining rooms, offices, and other facility spaces
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish furniture and fixtures
  • Collect and properly dispose of trash and recyclables
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces following infection control guidelines
  • Replenish supplies such as paper products, soap, and cleaning materials
  • Launder linens, towels, and resident clothing as assigned
  • Follow proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply needs to supervisor
  • Respect resident privacy, dignity, and personal property at all times
  • Follow all facility policies, OSHA standards, and health department regulations
  • Assist with special cleaning projects as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred (healthcare or assisted living a plus)
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety practices
  • Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor with elderly residents
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to [25–50] pounds
  • Ability to push carts, use cleaning equipment, and perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment

  • Assisted living or senior care facility
  • May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and biohazards with proper PPE
  • Requires adherence to infection control and safety procedures
