The City of East Peoria is accepting resumes for a full-time Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for performing maintenance and repair of City buildings, facilities, and equipment in accordance with established specifications and safety guidelines. Duties include routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing structural damage, doors, windows, and walls; performing electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry work; and assisting with construction, upkeep, and maintenance of certain outdoor City infrastructure. The position also requires proficiency in operating a variety of specialized maintenance equipment and vehicles.
The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving and time management skills, excellent manual dexterity, and a proactive approach to work. Attention to detail, focus on safety, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential. Candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills and a commitment to maintaining City facilities and common areas in the best possible condition.
Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four (4) years of job-related maintenance experience. A valid Illinois driver’s license is required, and residency within twenty-five (25) miles of the City’s corporate limits. The ability to work holidays, weekends, and respond to emergencies when needed is required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a physical, comprehensive background check and drug screening.
Pay range is $23.37–$33.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience (DOQE). This is a full-time, non-exempt position offering a comprehensive benefits package. To view more details, please review the attached job description and benefits summary.
