Title: Mechanical Drafter

Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Job Type: Contract to Hire or Direct Hire (Depending on candidate fit/business need)

Pay rate: $27.00 - $36.00/Hour (Depending on Experience)

Drafter Responsibilities:

Handle complex designing and drafting assignments under minimal supervision
Create drawings, models, and BOMs from written and verbal specifications obtained from Engineers
Work with Engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and design documentation
Work closely with Engineers to ensure coordinated effort is maintained
Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget and schedule
Review drawings for completeness and accuracy
Maintain all revisions of project drawings
Develop 3D models by analyzing prototypes and 2D drawings
Examine and check engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications
Provide timely technical assistance and solutions to the team
Participate in project meetings and conference calls as required
Prepare engineering documents for customer submittal

Drafter Qualifications / Skills:

High proficiency in 3D parametric modeling software, SolidWorks preferred
Ability to create 2D mechanical and structural drawings from 3D models
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
Ability to work under pressure with deadlines while having to multi-task multiple priorities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail
Strong work ethic
Ability to work successfully and collaboratively with a team
Ability to read and understand blueprints

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

Associate degree in computer-aided drafting and design, engineering technology or similar technical degree
At least one year of experience
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and how it relates to design
Hands on experience with 3D parametric modeling tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360, PTC Creo, etc.)
