Job Description

We're Hiring: Medical Coder (Critical Care and Pulmonary)!

We are seeking  a  Coding Specialist / Professional Billing (PB) Coder  with  Critical Care & Pulmonary (Remote, must be CST/EST) expertise. Candidates must provide their own equipment such as laptops, keyboard, mouse, etc. You’ll ensure accurate, compliant charge capture from physician documentation and code assignments using  ICD-10-CM  and  CPT (HCPCS as appropriate). Ideal for an experienced pro-fee coder who thrives in a collaborative revenue-cycle environment and can hit productivity/quality benchmarks from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Review provider documentation (including operative/clinical notes) and assign accurate  ICD-10-CM  diagnoses and  CPT/HCPCS  procedure codes (critical care, pulmonary, E/M, procedures).
  • Ensure coding compliance with payer, Medicare, NCCI edits, and organizational guidelines; maximize appropriate charge capture.
  • Partner with billing to resolve edits/denials; respond to coding inquiries promptly.
  • Maintain high  productivity  and  quality (accuracy & turnaround) targets.
  • Support documentation improvement and provider education as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; participate in meetings and education as assigned.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED  required.
  • 3+ years  production  physician practice / surgical setting  coding experience (outpatient  professional fee ).
  • Active CPC or CCS-P  certification ( required ).
  • Hands-on Critical Care & Pulmonary  coding experience ( required ).
  • Proficiency with  ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS ; familiarity with E/M 2023 guidelines and payer rules.
  • Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and communication; reliable remote work setup (secure internet, up-to-date computer— contractor provides equipment ).
