Position: Network Security Engineer

Location: Hybrid - Annapolis, MD

Duration: 5 Years

Required Certifications:
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA) or Professional
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Enterprise or Security



Preferred Qualifications:
- Ten years of IT networking and network security experience
- Associate's degree in IT-related field
- Advanced certifications: Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or equivalent, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)



Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, install, and support secure and scalable network solutions for 24x7 operations
- Proactively identify organizational requirements and design/engineer suitable implementations
- Perform project-based engineering, troubleshooting, and migration of network security platforms
- Provide assessment, design, and implementation services for secure data networking environments
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design and technical documentation
- Assist with network capacity planning, monitoring, and review of secure communications
- Lead or assist in migrations to next-generation network security technologies
- Resolve critical network security issues and threats, supporting junior associates as needed
- Implement configuration guidelines, change management, and SOPs for network security
- Coordinate and guide team activities to resolve end user issues efficiently
- Generate weekly status reports and host regular team meetings



Required Skills & Experience:
- 5 years: Palo Alto next-generation firewalls, intrusion prevention, content filtering, VPN, DLP, TLS/SSL inspection
- 4 years: Cisco complex switching, routing, wireless
- 3 years: A10 networks reverse proxies, load balancing
- 2 years: Cisco ISE, FreeRadius, ACLs
- Experience with: Multi-factor authentication, cloud networking/security, authentication standards (802.1x), scalable routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP), data center micro-segmentation, PKI, vulnerability management (Nessus, NMAP, Windows/Linux), protocol analysis (Wireshark, Opnet), centralized management (Panorama, SolarWinds), major server/desktop OS



Abilities:
- Work independently and mentor junior staff
- Communicate effectively and deliver technical presentations
- Produce technical documentation, diagrams, and project plans
