Description:
The access to information request support will assist the Information and Privacy office to review confidential records prior to disclosure. Review will include the recognition of information by criteria and applicable exemptions and exceptions to disclosure, preparing summary and recommendations for manager review, and working collaboratively with the Information and Privacy office team to ensure compliance with statutory duties for responding to access to information requests.
Access to Information Request Support
-Apply your experience and expertise with provincial and federal access to information legislation including Alberta's Access to Information Act (ATIA) as well Alberta's former Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and Canada s Access to Information Act, to recognize and apply exemptions and exceptions to disclosure, and to ensure compliance with statutory duties for responding to access to information requests.
-Coordinate day to day processing activities for access to records held by the Department in compliance with the statutory duties and in support of the principles objectives promoted by the ATIA.
-Clarifying the request, consulting with department staff and others where required in accordance with policies and procedures and best practices in processing access requests, identifying issues and preparing recommendations as required.
-Coordinate the tasks and track milestones in processing ATI requests and provide consultation with stakeholders as required.
-Guide and support records management practices within MHA.
-Support the office in preparing summaries and chronologies as needed and liaise with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner as required during official formal investigations and reviews.

Working Hours:
Standard Hours of work are 08:15 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the Province

Resource will work full time on premises at Commerce Place
Incumbency:
This is a net new position
Standard Background check required.
The Supplier shall, prior to commencement of the Services, provide the Province, on its request and at no cost to the Province, with criminal record checks.
Mandatory Training Courses:
Once hired the resource will be required to complete mandatory training which includes but not limited to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Security/Cybersecurity, Information Management, and Respect in the Workplace. There may also be other mandatory and/or optional training.
Anticipated Interviews dates:
Interviews are estimated to be held between January 23rd and 25, 2026. This is an estimate only.
