Job Description

Spur is looking for a hardworking and punctual Custodian for Selma City Schools. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the importance of the cleanliness of the school, as well as the security of the facilities. The primary duty of this position will be general custodial duties, keeping the school and other district buildings and grounds clean and tidy and maintaining the facilities' security by locking all doors and gates after use. They will disinfect surfaces and stock supplies, soap, sanitizer, and paper products as needed.

Duties expected of this position are:

• Performing all activities that are custodial and deemed appropriate by the school administration
• Keeping buildings and grounds neat and clean at all times
• Cleaning and maintaining all assigned workspaces and equipment
• Assisting in building and grounds security by locking all doors and gates after use and at the end of the workday
• Assisting in maintaining seasonal grounds work
• Performing routine maintenance and repairs of buildings, equipment, and grounds
• Understanding and following safety procedures as provided by the district
• Performing custodial duties before and after special events on weekends and evenings
• Performing other duties as assigned Requirements
• Able to work on an on-call basis
• Friendly and approachable attitude
• Prior related experience working with children
• Punctual and professional
• Maintains a professional appearance.
• Able to lift heavy objects to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally

Qualifications

• Must obtain a State of Alabama Background Check ($48.00)
• Required Online Training

Compensation

• This position pays $65.00 per day
• Must be available to work 7 am - 3:30 pm Monday - Friday when school is in session. (Hours vary per location)
