Founded by Rachel Cole, a dedicated professional with several years of fostering experience, we are driven by a commitment to empowering diversity, fostering equality, and amplifying every voice within the fostering sector.

Our Why ?

Black children are disproportionately over-represented in the care system, facing unique challenges that demand tailored solutions. Recognising this stark reality, we established Black Foster Carers Alliance to address the shortage of foster carers, especially from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds, and to provide crucial support, guidance, and education to those seeking to navigate the fostering journey.

Our Vision

We envision a fostering community that reflects the diversity of the children it serves, ensuring every child finds a safe and nurturing home that honours their cultural identity. By fostering equality, we aim to inspire positive transformations within the fostering sector, advocating for change that echoes through policies, practices, and the lived experiences of foster carers and children

How we bring about change

Guided by our commitment to fostering equality, we provide comprehensive support, culturally sensitive training, and mentorship for Black and minority foster carers. Our advocacy promotes diversity within the fostering community, emphasizing the crucial match between carers and children. Through inclusivity, networking, and community building, we foster connections among carers. Collaborating with agencies, we offer guidance on recruitment strategies, anti-racist practices, and ongoing support. Our collective efforts aim to reshape fostering, celebrating diversity and empowering carers to provide nurturing homes. Join us in this transformative journey.
