At Black Foster Carers Alliance (BFCA), we believe that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders in the fostering and social care sectors. We’re excited to partner with universities to provide valuable opportunities for students to learn about fostering, cultural competency, and the unique needs of Black and minority ethnic children in care.

Guest Lectures & Workshops

Inviteour team ro deliver guest lectures or workshops on topics such as transracial fostering, kinship care, and the history of fostering within the Black community. These sessions bring theory to life, offering students real-world insights from leading professionals.

Internships & Placement Opportunities

Students can gain hands-on experience through internships or placements with BFCA. This allows them to work directly with foster carers, children, and the communities we serve, developing the practical skills and experience needed to thrive in social care.

Research & Collaborations

We welcome academic collaborations Together, we can explore important topic to greater understand how we can support minority ethnic carers and children, and the challenges within the sector

CPD-Accredited Training

BFCA offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accredited training programs that equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for culturally competent social work and fostering. These programs are ideal for students pursuing careers in social work, child welfare, and other related fields.
